What is Promotion?

Promotion is an effective promotional tool that companies use to introduce themselves to their potential customers and to market their products. Today, many products can be offered as a Promotion. In the developing and expanding world of advertising, promotional products have become indispensable for companies.

Even though the inventories that we have at hand and that we use constantly in daily life do not seem to attract attention, they make the biggest advertisement. The activities carried out to promote a product to large audiences and to provide that product's version are called promotions.

Promotion is a type of work that is included in the Marketing communication mix. By the definition of the American Marketing Association, since there are communication activities other than personal selling, advertising and promotion, its scope and applications vary greatly.

A promotion is the offer or presentation of something special. With this dimension, promotion is intertwined with other works. E.g; salespeople can apply promotional tactics very often in their work. (such as giving Republic Gold to wholesalers who buy a certain amount of detergent.) In addition, the purpose of sales-oriented advertisements is to increase sales. The messages used can be mirrors of the messages used for the promotion. There are similarities between public relations, promotion and promotion as well as in practice. E.g; such as trying to increase the sales of the company and product at trade fairs.

The various purposes of the promotion are mentioned. One form of grouping is for the groups that the Promotion addresses. Accordingly, the general objectives are as follows.

1. Supporting the sales force.

2. Ensuring the acceptance and support of intermediary institutions in the marketing of the product.

3. Increasing the sale of the product to consumers A careful examination here will reveal that the general objectives are more sales-oriented.

This does not mean that the promotion is not for communication purposes. However, it must be admitted that in terms of promotional features, it is mostly aimed at increasing sales.

To put it more clearly, the promotion aims to accelerate the movement of the product at the channel level from the producer to the consumer and to increase sales.
